It was a dazzling night in Mumbai on October 31 when Bollywood’s biggest celebrities got together to celebrate Halloween in style. The star-studded event saw participation from Nita Ambani, Alia Bhatt, Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone, Aryan Khan, Arjun Kapoor, and Atlee, amongst many others. On Friday, the socialite Orhan Awatramani also shared on Instagram a vibrant reel from the event to introduce each guest’s Halloween persona in his signature humorous tone.
Bollywood Celebrated Halloween 2025
The video opened with Nita Ambani looking like Audrey Hepburn from Breakfast at Tiffany’s in a black off-shoulder, complete with diamond tiara and neat bangs, exuding old-Hollywood elegance. Alia Bhatt also went full-on fierce with Lara Croft from Tomb Raider in a black T-shirt and short with her signature braid intact.
Deepika Padukone sported her onscreen authority as Lady Singham from Singham Again (2024), while her husband Ranveer Singh appeared as Deadpool though Orry amusingly introduced him as Spider-Man. Other standout costumes included Akshay Mittal as a character from Money Heist, Arjun Kapoor as The Terminator, Janhvi Kapoor as Angela de Marco, Samarth Hedge as Baba Ramdev, Ayan Mukerji as Harry Potter, and Karan Johar as Lord Anthony Bridgerton. Aryan Khan’s look was inspired by Brokeback Mountain.
With a dash of humor, Orry introduced Disha Patani as “Mujhe bhi pata nahi”, teasing her for her mysterious outfit choice. The guest list included the glamorous Akash Ambani with Shloka Mehta, along with Ananya Panday. Akash and Shloka perfectly complemented each other as Gomez and Morticia Addams from The Addams Family.
Halloween: A Holiday Rooted in Ancient Times
Halloween today, a global celebration of costumes, candy, and fun, traces its roots back to the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain. It marked the end of harvest season and the beginning of winter, a time when people believed the spirits of the dead could return to Earth.
Over time, the holiday turned into a secular holiday and included activities such as pumpkin carving, trick-or-treating, going in costume, and telling ghost stories. It is still connected to the Christian feast of All Saints’ Day on November 1.
From Pagan Rituals to Christian Traditions
The word ‘Halloween’ is derived from ‘All Hallows’ Eve’, meaning the night before All Saints’ Day, which is a day when Christians commemorate saints and martyrs. Over time, though, pagan practices and non-Biblical celebrations merged with those of the church. Some traditions included praying for souls not yet in heaven and making offerings for the dead. Others believed that on Halloween night, the spirits of the dead roamed the Earth before taking their final leave on All Saints’ Day sometimes even seeking revenge on people they disliked. Karamat: A Mix of Faith, Folklore, and Fun Halloween today is a blend of ancient spirituality and modern revelry. What once was a solemn remembrance became a celebration of creativity, laughter, and imagination — and this is exactly what the Halloween party displayed by Bollywood did this year.
