Gaurav Khanna is a popular Indian TV actor, best known for his roles as Anuj Kapadia in Anupamaa and Senior Inspector Kavin in CID. He grew up in a joint family that once owned a big shoe factory, experiencing both wealth and financial loss, which taught him to be responsible and careful with money. In 2014, he faced betrayal from friends and financial setbacks, and just before his 2016 wedding to actress Akanksha Chamola, he had to deal with demonetisation. Despite these challenges, he worked very hard, often doing multiple shows a day and even sleeping in his car to keep up with his career. Today, he is a contestant on Bigg Boss 19 and winner of Celebrity MasterChef India 2025, earning about ₹17.5 lakh per week, with an estimated net worth of ₹12–15 crore. Known for his determination, humor about being colorblind, and dedication, Gaurav’s journey shows true hard work and perseverance beyond the glamour of television.

Gaurav grew up in a joint family that once owned a huge shoe factory. He recalled, “In 2000, we literally had every car in the house 11 cars in total. But by 2002, when everyone retired, there was nothing left. I knew I had to do more.” These experiences taught him financial responsibility that stays with him even today.

Reflecting on his early days in television, Gaurav said, “I used to do a minimum of two shows at a time. There was a time when I once slept while driving a car. I never used to come home, I used to sleep in the car, and my driver would complain to my mom that ‘bhaiya is stretching too much.’” His schedule involved hopping between action and rom-com scenes all day, leaving little time for personal life.

Financial Setbacks and Personal Challenges

He faced several hardships, including betrayal and financial loss: “In 2014, I suffered a huge loss. A few friends betrayed me and took some money, and 60% of my money went into property losses. I was still a bachelor then. Then, in 2016, just eight days before my wedding, demonetisation happened. I never bought an expensive car at that time because I thought I would buy a house for my mom and dad instead.”

Relentless Hustle and Generational Gap

Despite setbacks, Gaurav kept pushing himself: “After that, I started working double. I didn’t want to think; I worked nonstop. I don’t know where my 20 years went.” He admitted feeling a generational gap with younger housemates: “When I sit with you guys, I feel like I don’t know a lot of Gen-Z versions.”

Insights Into Showbiz

On the competitive world of television, he said, “Acting is an industry where you can become famous overnight if a show works. If you’re good, more opportunities come your way. But if you’re not, then all you’ll ever talk about is that one successful show in your life.” Gaurav also shared lighter moments, including being colorblind and having differences of opinion with his wife about children. Gaurav Khanna’s journey reflects relentless hustle, sacrifices, and perseverance, showing that success requires determination and resilience beyond the glamour of television.
