Actor Shilpa Shetty recently addressed the ongoing buzz around her Bandra restaurant Bastian. Reports suggested the iconic celebrity hotspot was shutting down for good. The actor broke her silence and explained that the change is not about financial issues. Instead, the Bandra outlet will transform into a new South Indian restaurant called Ammakai. Meanwhile, Bastian itself will relaunch at Juhu as Bastian Beach Club. Shilpa emphasised that Bastian is not closing but undergoing an exciting transformation.
Shilpa Shetty Speaks Directly to Fans
In a video statement, Shilpa said, “No, I am not shutting down Bastian, I promise.” She revealed that she received numerous calls after the news spread. She expressed gratitude for the love shown but requested that it should not turn toxic. She added that she wanted to make it clear that Bastian is going nowhere.

A New Restaurant Inspired by Her Roots
The Bandra location will soon open as Ammakai, a South Indian restaurant. Shilpa explained that this new venture connects to her roots and passion for food. Ammakai will focus on authentic South Indian Mangalorean cuisine and at the same time, Juhu will welcome Bastian Beach Club. Shilpa expressed excitement, saying she could not wait for people to experience the new flavours and the same Bastian hospitality.

On social media, Shilpa shared the update with a long caption. She wrote that Bandra Bastian was the root of their tree called Bastian Hospitality. She compared the change to a tree blooming with new fruits. She announced Ammakai in Bandra and Bastian Beach Club in Juhu. She made it clear that Bastian is staying and evolving with a fresh identity.
Credit to Her Business Partner
The actor credited her brother and partner, Ranjeet Bindra, for the vision and she acknowledged his role as CEO of their enterprise and praised his expertise and passion for transforming hospitality at scale. Shilpa thanked him and wished God speed for their new ventures.

Allegations Continue to Loom
The announcement came at a time when Shilpa and her husband Raj Kundra face a major allegation. Businessman Deepak Kothari accused the couple of misusing Rs 60 crore funds meant for business expansion almost seven to eight years ago. Despite the controversy, Shilpa focused on ensuring fans that her restaurant business is moving forward with growth and innovation.
