Sonam Bajwa faces backlash for liking a reel mocking Janhvi Kapoor’s Malayalam accent in Param Sundari trailer.
Sidharth Malhotra and Janhvi Kapoor meet by chance in their first film together titled Param Sundari. The trailer shows candy-floss cuteness, saccharine simplicity, and playful dialogues. Malhotra’s familiar Shah Rukh Khan references from Yodha resurface, while Kapoor delivers a hyper monologue about Rajinikanth, Mohanlal, Yash, and Allu Arjun. The film seems to mix the vibe of Chennai Express and 2 States. Sonu Nigam’s haunting Pardesia runs through half the trailer, while a dance number dominates the other half. Romance seems to be back on screen, pushing action away for now.
Soon after the trailer dropped, a reel mocking Janhvi Kapoor’s Malayalam accent went viral. The clip quickly gained traction because it showed exaggerated reactions to her performance. The reel, however, did not remain limited to just online chatter. It caught attention when celebrities like Sonam Bajwa and Harshvardhan Rane liked the post.

Netizens immediately reacted to Bajwa’s move. One user commented that Harshvardhan Rane’s decision to like the reel was strange since his own film is releasing soon and may itself turn into meme material. Another took a direct dig at Sonam Bajwa, saying she should first introspect and examine her own acting skills before mocking someone else. Social media also highlighted Janhvi and Sonam’s different status in the industry. A user wrote that an insider and an outsider can never be friends, pointing to the unspoken divide in Bollywood.
Meanwhile, another video from the trailer went viral for a different reason. Fans spotted actress Priya Prakash Varrier, the 2018 viral sensation, as an extra in one of the film’s shots. The blink-and-miss appearance added fuel to online discussions about the trailer.
Despite online trolling, the buzz around Param Sundari has only increased. Sidharth and Janhvi’s chemistry, combined with a blend of Bollywood and South Indian cultural references, has caught audience attention. The debate around Sonam Bajwa’s reaction and Janhvi’s accent may only add more eyeballs to the film’s release. For now, it is clear that Param Sundari has already started conversations much before it reaches theatres.
