Bollywood icon Shah Rukh Khan's son Aryan Khan is set to take the directing helm with his much-awaited Netflix show Ba*ds of Bollywood**. The project was announced by SRK himself at a Netflix event in February, sending fans into a tizzy who've been waiting with bated breath for news ever since.
In a recent AMA session on X (ex-Twitter), Shah Rukh provided candid insight into the show while teasingly disclosing that Aryan withholds information from him. SRK made a light-hearted comment, "So many asking so have to inform Netflix… Beta show bana raha hai, Baap sirf wait kar raha hai…(Son is making show and father is waiting in anticipation) @NetflixIndia Tum kya kar rahe ho??!!"
Replying to SRK's question, Netflix coyly said, "Bete ka teaser post karne se pehle baap se permission chahiye thi (Wanted permission from father before the release of son's series teaser). The first look will be out tomorrow." Shah Rukh then interacted with Netflix, inquiring about the time of the teaser, typing, "Yes yes yes. Please let me know the time too as Aryan doesn't tell me anything… Too excited.". Here's to an excellent First Look. Thanks." Netflix officially announced that the teaser would release at 11 AM on 17 August.
Shah Rukh shared that he had watched bits of Ba*ds of Bollywood** and called it wacky, emotional, and entertaining, saying that it is extremely endearing and funny. Nevertheless, he urged people to make their own judgments once they watch the series.
The new show will be a dark comedy and give an insider's perspective on the Hindi film industry. The show reportedly will have cameo roles by the who's who of Bollywood such as Salman Khan, Ranbir Kapoor, Karan Johar, and Ranveer Singh, with Bobby Deol and Mona Singh also playing a part.
The official logline states: "Behind Bollywood's glitz is a world as dramatic as its movies, and that is where the Netflix series, The Ba*ds of Bollywood starts. Through Aryan Khan's unique prism, this series explores the glitz, the madness, the humor, and the high risks of an industry founded on dreams.". From the Red Chillies Entertainment home, this partnership with Netflix brings to fruition a tale as daring and engaging as the films we've grown to adore."
In the meantime, Shah Rukh will be seen next in Siddharth Anand's King, the theatrical debut of Suhana Khan. Abhishek Bachchan, Abhay Verma, Saurabh Shukla, and Jaideep Ahlawat also feature in the film, with Deepika Padukone, Rani Mukerji, Anil Kapoor, and Jackie Shroff rumoured to make an appearance. Under production as of now, King is set to release in 2026.
