
Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan gave a fond tribute to veteran actor Achyut Potdar, who died on 18 August at the age of 91. Fans and co-stars were saddened by the news of his death, especially the people who worked with him in hit film 3 Idiots. In a post published by his production house, Aamir recalled Potdar as "an amazing actor and a wonderful human being."
Achyut Potdar was admitted to Jupiter Hospital in a serious state with respiratory and heart problems. Dr. Ravindra Ghawat, Critical Care Department Director, told PTI, "He was brought in around 4 p.m. and maintained in the ICU. He died at 10:30 p.m. due to cardiac problems. He suffered from high blood pressure and poor cardiovascular health."
Aamir Khan was in grief shortly after hearing about Potdar's death, stating, "I am extremely saddened to hear that Achyutji is no more. He was a fabulous actor, a great human being, and a fantastic co-worker. We will miss you, Achyutji. My deepest condolences to his family."
Achyut Potdar made a lasting impression on Indian cinema with his skilled versatility as an actor and authoritative screen presence. He became well-known for playing a strict but lovable professor at a college in 3 Idiots, which starred Aamir Khan, R. Madhavan, and Sharman Joshi. His biting line, "Kehna kya chahte ho (What are you trying to say)," became a viral hit and remains referenced in popular culture and memes.
Strangely enough, Potdar started his acting career at the age of 44. Prior to going into films, he was a member of the Indian Armed Forces and Indian Oil Corporation. He was a college lecturer at a college in Rewa, Madhya Pradesh, before joining the Indian Army.
Besides his work on the silver screen, Potdar's television career was equally eventful. He featured in television series like Wagle Ki Duniya, Majha Hoshil Na, Mrs. Tendulkar, and Bharat Ki Khoj. He made significant contributions to Marathi cinema as well, with an extensive number of roles across both commercially successful as well as critically successful films.
