Gir’s famous saffron mangoes have spread to many countries of the world besides. Even amid the pandemic, the world’s fascination with saffron mangoes has not diminished. 100 tonnes of saffron mangoes are expected to be exported to European countries this year, including Italy. Recently, 14 tonnes of saffron mangoes from Talala-Gir have been exported to Italy. For the first time this year, it has been exported by ship instead of air cargo. The container of saffron mangoes is expected to reach Italy in 25 days by sea from the port of Mundra.

Secretary of Talala Mango Market H.H. Jarsania said that Gir saffron mangoes are in demand in the US and Japan, but could not be exported to these countries this year due to the pandemic. However, the demand for mangoes from Italy has increased, and it is planned that another container is sent in 10 days.

Vijay Sahay, a native of Allahabad in UP who is currently in Italy and currently trading in Italy, said, “For the first time, saffron mangoes are reaching Italy by sea from the Talala-Gir area of India. The price of Gir saffron mango is very high in European countries including Italy. Saffron mangoes are in high demand in European countries, including Italy. With good marketing of Gir saffron mangoes, European countries, including Italy, can find a market that can consume more than 100 tonnes of mangoes.”
