Ghulam Nabi Azad, Chairman of the Democratic Progressive Azad Party (DPAP), emphasized the imperative of unity and brotherhood among people while urging voters to rally behind development and progress. Speaking to party workers in Kathua after filing nomination papers for Vice Chairman DPAP and Lok Sabha Candidate from Udhampur-Doda, G M Saroori, Azad highlighted the urgency of defeating divisive forces and addressing key issues concerning Jammu and Kashmir.

Azad condemned the injection of religion into politics, advocating instead for MPs who prioritize public issues in Parliament over sectarian agendas. He stressed the importance of an effective campaign in ensuring the success of DPAP candidate G M Saroori.

Promising to eradicate religious discrimination, Azad underscored his commitment to enacting laws guaranteeing land and job protection for J&K residents, drawing parallels to the visionary leadership of Maharaja Hari Singh in safeguarding the interests of the people.
Azad asserted, “Maharaja Hari Singh instituted laws to protect our land and jobs. Today, our local youth face unemployment while outsiders are given preference. We must continue the fight for statehood until we achieve it.”

Meanwhile, Saroori, the DPAP candidate, reiterated the need for an MP dedicated to progress and pledged to champion the people’s interests in Parliament. Drawing from his experience as a three-time MLA, Saroori vowed to prioritize public issues and bridge the gap between the elected representative and the constituents.

Saroori emphasized the importance of continuing the developmental work initiated by Azad during his tenure as Chief Minister and Union Minister. He stressed the necessity of investing in education, infrastructure, and other key sectors to foster growth and prosperity in the region.

As the electoral battle heats up, the DPAP’s message of unity, progress, and responsive governance resonates with voters, setting the stage for a fiercely contested election in the Udhampur-Doda
constituency.
