Mumbai-based digital mapping firm Genesys International has successfully clinched a Rs 22 crore contract for deploying its cutting-edge digital twin mapping technology in the Dharavi redevelopment project led by the Adani Group. The ambitious initiative aims to transform Dharavi, one of Asia’s largest slums, into a modern city hub. Genesys International’s chairman and managing director, Sajid Malik, emphasized the company’s commitment to pushing the boundaries in the mapping space, citing the project’s unparalleled complexity.
The contract, excluding GST, is expected to be completed within nine months, marking a significant milestone in Genesys’ endeavors in the mapping sector. Adani Group secured the contract earlier this year, sparking a redevelopment effort that has encountered opposition, with critics alleging preferential treatment by the Eknath Shinde government.
Responding to the criticism, the Adani Group released a statement asserting that the tender conditions for the Dharavi project were established during the tenure of the previous Maha Vikas Aghadi government, which included Shiv Sena (now split), Congress, and NCP. The statement emphasized that the project was awarded through a fair, open, and internationally competitive bidding process. The conditions, including obligations and incentives, were known to all bidders and have remained unchanged post the tendering process.
Amid allegations of favoritism, the Adani Group stands firm on the transparency and fairness of the selection process, dispelling claims of special benefits granted to the awardee. The controversy continues as opposition parties, including Shiv Sena, Congress, and NCP, persist in accusing the Maharashtra government of providing undue advantages to the Adani Group in the execution of this significant project.
