Gemini, the AI assistant developed by Google, is commemorating its successful first year in India, where it has been widely adopted by users for a range of tasks spanning schoolwork to coding projects. To further empower users and enhance their productivity and creativity, Google has unveiled a host of new features tailored for the Indian market. A significant highlight of this announcement is the introduction of the Gemini app in India, strategically designed to align with the country’s mobile-first culture.

The Gemini app is available in both English and nine Indian languages, including Hindi, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu. This multilingual support enables users to seamlessly interact with Gemini in their preferred language, whether they are planning an event, trying out a new recipe, or crafting a social media post. The app offers multiple input methods, including typing, voice commands, and image uploads, ensuring convenience and accessibility for users on the go.

Android users can easily integrate the Gemini app with their devices, accessing it through Google Assistant and benefiting from familiar voice features for tasks such as setting reminders and making calls. For iOS users, access to Gemini is gradually rolling out through the Google app, providing a pathway to enhance productivity and creativity while using Apple devices.

Gemini Advanced, Google’s most sophisticated AI model, now extends its support to Hindi and several other Indian languages. This expansion includes Gemini 1.5 Pro, which boasts an impressive 1 million token context window, the longest available among consumer chatbots globally. This enhanced capability enables Gemini Advanced to process and understand extensive content, ranging from lengthy documents to complex codebases and videos.

Gemini Advanced introduces powerful new features aimed at users dealing with large volumes of data and information. For instance, users can upload and summarize multiple large documents, up to 1,500 pages in total, or analyze 100 emails. The AI assistant provides concise summaries, personalized feedback, and actionable insights, facilitating efficient information processing. Additionally, support for spreadsheet uploads (Google Sheets, CSVs, Excel) enables users to clean, explore, analyze, and visualize data, making Gemini Advanced a valuable tool for tasks like financial analysis and business insights.

Privacy remains a top priority with Gemini, as Google ensures that user files are kept private and are not utilized to train AI models. This commitment underscores Google’s dedication to maintaining user trust and safeguarding sensitive information. Furthermore, Gemini is integrated into Google Messages, offering another convenient platform for users to collaborate with the AI assistant. Initially available in English on select devices, users can seamlessly draft messages, brainstorm ideas, or plan events within the Messages app, further enhancing the utility and accessibility of Gemini across different platforms and contexts.
