Congress leader and former Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot criticized the BJP government in Rajasthan for its handling of the disaster management during recent heavy rains, which resulted in over 25 deaths. Gehlot questioned the status of the minister responsible for disaster management, suggesting that the lack of clarity regarding whether the minister’s resignation had been accepted amounted to a “deceit” against the people.

Gehlot took to X to express his concern, stating that the confusion over the minister’s resignation status during such a critical time was unacceptable. He called on Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma to clarify the situation and ensure effective relief and rescue operations.

Minister Kirodi Lal Meena, who oversees Rural Development and Disaster Management, had announced his resignation last month following the BJP’s loss in the Dausa Lok Sabha seat, but his resignation status remains unclear. In response to the crisis, the Chief Minister has instructed officials to enhance disaster management efforts and urged residents to avoid waterlogged areas and basements during the rains.

Recent heavy rains in Rajasthan have caused significant waterlogging and damage, with rivers overflowing and water from a dam contributing to the crisis.
