The Government College for Women in Panchkula, in collaboration with the Electoral Literacy Cell and its National Service Scheme (NSS Unit-2), recently organised a one-day NSS camp.
This event was part of the “Mera Vote for the Country” program, designed to inspire students and the public to vote by emphasizing the importance of active participation in the democratic process. Dr. Ritu Yadav, the vice principal of the college, encouraged students to engage in the “festival of democracy” by recognizing the significance of voting.
Overseeing the program’s implementation were Dr. Naveen Malik, the college’s Nodal Officer for the Electoral Literacy Cell, and Dr. Jyoti Sharma, the National Service Scheme Coordinator. The camp featured various activities, including poster and slogan writing competitions aimed at motivating female students to actively participate in the voting process.
A highlight of the event was a rally conducted in Abhaypur village, situated near Sector-19 in Panchkula. Approximately 65 female college students enrolled in the National Service Scheme took part in the rally, driven by their understanding of the importance of voting. Utilizing posters and catchy phrases, the students effectively communicated the significance of voting to the public, contributing to increased awareness about the electoral process.
