The murder of Harjinder Singh Johal, the owner of a kulcha shop in Bathinda, is being investigated, and two out of three gangsters involved in the crime, Parmjeet Singh and Kamaljeet Singh, were presented in the Dera Bassi court today. The court has sent the accused on a five-day police remand, and they will be presented again on November 7th. Meanwhile, in this case, the third gangster, Lavjeet Singh, was injured by police gunfire and was initially admitted to the Civil Hospital in Phase 6, Mohali. He has now been referred to Chandigarh’s Sector 32 hospital.
During the investigation, it was found that the three gangsters had taken a room, number 207, at a hotel on a fake identification card in the name of Manasa resident Parmjeet Singh on October 31st, around 3:30 PM. After taking the room, they did not leave it and remained inside with the door closed.
It is noteworthy that the police received information yesterday that the assailants in the murder case of a businessman from Bathinda are hiding in the mentioned hotel. Under the leadership of DSP Pavan Kumar Sharma from the State Operation Cell, the police surrounded the hotel and asked the accused to surrender. One of the gangsters, Lavjeet Singh, opened fire on the police, injuring DSP Pavan Kumar Sharma. In the police’s retaliatory action, Lavjeet, who had fired the shots, was also injured, and then the police arrested all three.
SSP Dr. Sandeep Garg mentioned that Lavjeet Singh, who is accused of firing in the murder of the Bathinda businessman, is also a resident of Manasa, Bathinda, and he is one of the three arrested suspects. The other two arrested suspects are being interrogated.
