The police have apprehended a gangster who had fled during a confrontation on VIP Road. From him, a Chinese pistol and 5 cartridges were also recovered. The arrested suspect is identified as Gurpal Singh, a resident of Dera Bassi. He was working for the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, specifically for gangster Goldy Barad, who was planning to carry out a major incident in Zirakpur the previous day.
Providing information about the case, SHO Simarjeet Singh Sherigill said that on the evening of the 6th, during a police checkpoint, two youths were signalled to stop, but they fled on their motorcycle. When the police started chasing them, they opened fire on the police. In the retaliatory action, one gangster, Manjeet Singh alias Guri, was shot in the leg and fell. The other gangster, Gurpal Singh Andhera, took advantage of the darkness and managed to escape from the scene. The police arrested him based on information on Wednesday from Virender Singh Ranchandi, Saharanpur district in UP.
It is worth mentioning that during the scuffle on VIP Road on the 6th, the police had nabbed gangster Manjeet Singh alias Guri on the spot and filed cases under sections 307, 353, and 186 of the IPC and Section 25 of the Arms Act against him. After that, during the interrogation of Manjeet Singh alias Guri, it was revealed that he had given three foreign pistols and 30 cartridges to two unknown motorcycle riders near Dandrala village, located on Kaliz Road in Dera Bassi, with the responsibility of carrying out a sensational incident in Zirakpur. However, before he could execute the plan, the police apprehended him during a scuffle on VIP Road. Currently, both accused are in police custody, and further interrogation is underway.
