“President Biden and G20 partners will discuss a range of joint efforts to address global issues, including on the transition to clean energy and combating climate change, as well as mitigating the economic and social impacts of Putin’s war in Ukraine,” White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre stated.
She stated in a statement that her goal was to “increase the capacity of multilateral development banks, including the World Bank, to better combat poverty, including by addressing global challenges.”
President Biden will also praise Prime Minister Modi for his G20 leadership during his visit to New Delhi, and he will reiterate the US’ commitment to the G20 as the foremost forum for economic cooperation, including by serving as its host in 2026, according to Jean-Pierre.
Biden’s discussions with leaders on the margins of the summit will centre on climate change, Russia’s war in Ukraine, and other global issues, according to White House national security adviser Jake Sullivan.
The Group of Twenty, sometimes known as the G20, is an intergovernmental organisation made up of the world’s largest industrialised and developing economies.
Over 75% of global trade, about two-thirds of the world’s population, and about 85% of the world’s GDP are all represented by the members.
Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Republic of Korea, Mexico, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Turkey, UK, US, and the European Union are included in the group.
