Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said that his government will provide full support in the investigations of Sonali Phogat’s death case.

“Full support from day one in the investigation. Those who have to be punished will be punished by Goa Police with one hundred present. At present, they (accused) are in custody and an investigation is going on,” CM Sawant said.

Meanwhile, Phogat passed away on 23 August in Goa. At the St Anthony Hospital at Anjuna in North, Goa Phogat was declared dead.

Earlier the preliminary reports suggested Sonali Phogat died of a Heart Attack. Over this, the Goa Forward Party MLA Vijai Sardesai took a swipe at the BJP-led state government over the probe into the case.

“Yesterday they said she died of a heart attack. Today, a post-mortem revealed several blunt forceS injuries. It proves Chief Minister likes to give clean chit, and jump the gun. This is giving Goa a bad name. This shows the state of affairs here,” Sardesai said.

Moreover, on Saturday Goa police arrested two more people in connection with the murder of Tik Tok star and BJP leader Sonali Phogat.

Police said they have arrested Dattaprasad Gaonkar, owner of Curlies Beach restaurant in Anjuna and a suspected drug smuggler. So far, a total of four arrests have been made in this case.

The arrested Gaonkar had allegedly supplied drugs to Sukhwinder Singh. “Based on the investigation, the police detained the drug peddler who had supplied drugs,” Anjun Police said.

Earlier, on Friday, Sonali Phogat’s PA Sudhir Sangwan and his aide Sukhwinder Singh were arrested in connection with the alleged murder.

“Statements of more than 20-25 people have been recorded so far in the case. These include the staff of Curlies Restaurant and others. The owner of the restaurant is being questioned by the police,” police officials said.

The police arrested Phogat’s PA and his associate after watching the CCTV footage. In which all three were seen partying in a club.

“On the basis of CCTV footage, it was seen that the accused Sudhir Sangwan and his associate Sukhwinder Singh were partying with the deceased at a club. A video establishes that one of them forcefully made the victim consume a substance,” Inspector General of Police Omvir Singh Bishnoi said.

“When confronted, Sukhwinder and Sudhir confessed that they intentionally mixed an obnoxious chemical into a liquid and made the victim drink it,” IGP Omvir Singh Bishnoi said.

“The two accused confessed that after they intentionally mixed an obnoxious chemical into a liquid and made the victim drink it, which made her feel uneasy, after which they took her to the hotel and then to St. Anthony’s Hospital, where she was declared brought dead,” the Goa police said.

The last rites of Sonali Phogat were performed in her hometown Hisar on 26 August.

However, Sonali Phogat contested against Kuldeep Bishnoi from Adampur in Haryana during the Lok Sabha elections in the year 2019. The popularity of Phogat increased after becoming a Tik-Tok star and a contestant on Bigg Boss.
