On Thursday, French President Emmanuel Macron conveyed his heartfelt condolences over the passing of Ratan Tata, the iconic Indian industrialist and philanthropist. In a deeply emotional message, Macron highlighted Tata’s immense contribution to strengthening the relationship between France and India. “France has lost a dear friend from India,” Macron expressed.

Macron Praises Tata’s Leadership and Philanthropy

In a post on X, Macron acknowledged Ratan Tata’s visionary leadership, stating, “Ratan Tata’s visionary helmsmanship contributed to boosting industries in India and France, in the fields of innovation and manufacturing.” He went on to praise Tata’s extensive philanthropic work and humble nature, adding, “Beyond this, his legacy will be marked by his humanist vision, immense philanthropic achievements and his humility.”

Condolences for a Lifelong Commitment to Society

President Macron extended his deepest sympathies to Tata’s family and the people of India, reflecting on the industrialist’s lasting commitment to societal progress. “I convey my deepest condolences to his near and dear ones as well as to the people of India,” Macron wrote, noting that Tata’s “lifelong commitment to the betterment of society” would be remembered “with admiration and respect.”

Final Rites Held in Mumbai

The final rites for Ratan Tata were conducted on Thursday evening at the Worli Crematorium in Mumbai, with full state honors. Among those attending the ceremony were his stepmother, Simone Tata, and close associate Shantanu Naidu. In a heartwarming gesture, Tata’s adopted stray dog, Goa, was also present to pay respects.

Tata‘s passing has led to an overwhelming outpouring of tributes from global leaders, who celebrated his leadership, philanthropic efforts, and impact on international relations. As the former chairman of Tata Group and Tata Sons, Ratan Tata passed away on October 9, 2024, leaving behind a remarkable legacy.

Tata’s Business Legacy and Global Expansion

Ratan Tata served as Chairman of Tata Sons, the holding company of the Tata Group, from 1991 until his retirement in 2012, after which he was named Chairman Emeritus. Recognized for his immense contribution to India, he was awarded the Padma Vibhushan, the country’s second-highest civilian honor, in 2008.

During his tenure, Tata Group expanded on a global scale, acquiring renowned brands like Jaguar Land Rover and Tetley. His commitment to innovation and sustainability continues to inspire future generations of entrepreneurs worldwide.
