The deadline to update Aadhaar details for free is set to end on September 14. The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) had previously extended this deadline multiple times, and it remains uncertain if another extension will be granted. The current deadline, extended by three months on June 14, follows earlier extensions on March 14 this year and December 15 last year.
Aadhaar card holders can update their address online by submitting Proof of Identity and Proof of Address documents. This service is free if the address has not been updated in the past 10 years. To receive OTPs for online logins and updates, your Aadhaar must be linked to the same mobile number. For changes to other details such as name, mobile number, or photo, you will need to visit UIDAI-authorized centers.
UIDAI recommends that every user update their Aadhaar card details every 10 years to ensure that their information remains current and to avoid issues with accessing government schemes. Although updating is recommended, it is not mandatory unless required for specific updates.
