In the aftermath of the Chunabhatti firing incident that occurred on Sunday afternoon, Mumbai Police have successfully apprehended four individuals associated with the gang involved, while an intensive search is ongoing for the fifth suspect. The shooting resulted in the death of one person, Pappu alias Sumeet Yerunkar, and left four others, including an eight-year-old girl, injured. The assailants reportedly fired at least 10 to 15 rounds during the incident.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Ashutosh Gawand, Sunny Patil, Naresh Patil, and Sagar Sawant, all residents of Chunabhatti. The fifth suspect, Prabhakar Pachindre, is currently evading authorities. The incident unfolded around 3:30 pm on Sunday, prompting a response from Mumbai Police after reports of gunfire.
At the scene in the Azad Galli area, investigators discovered dozens of spent bullets, and several individuals were found injured with gunshot wounds. Notorious gangster Pappu, aged 45, succumbed to gunshot injuries in the stomach and thigh upon arrival at Sion Hospital.

Police investigations reveal that the cause of the incident was gang rivalry. Pappu, planning to celebrate his upcoming birthday, visited a studio in Azad Galli with his associates to get banners printed. However, a rival gang, with a longstanding feud, arrived at the same location. Both groups engaged in gunfire, resulting in injuries to all except Pappu, who unfortunately did not survive.

One of the injured is an eight-year-old girl named Trisha Sharma, who happened to be in the vicinity. She sustained an injury to her left arm and is currently receiving treatment at Sion Hospital. The deceased, Pappu, had a brother named Swapnil associated with the political group BJP. An FIR has been filed by local resident Vinod Vishwakarma, aged 35, under sections 302 (murder), 307 (attempt to murder), 120B (criminal conspiracy) of the Indian Penal Code, and relevant sections of the Arms Act against the accused. The investigation into this gang-related violence continues.
