Former President Ram Nath Kovind exercised his voting right in the national capital today, urging citizens to participate in the democratic process for the advancement of the nation. “We are proud to be the world’s largest democratic country. I want all the countrymen to cast their vote for the strengthening of democracy and for Viksit Bharat,” said the former President Ram Nath Kovind after casting his vote.

All seven Lok Sabha constituencies in Delhi are currently undergoing polls as part of the sixth phase of the ongoing Lok Sabha elections. The constituencies include New Delhi, North East Delhi, East Delhi, West Delhi, South Delhi, North West Delhi, and Chandni Chowk.

Voting for the sixth phase began this morning across 58 parliamentary constituencies spread over six states and two Union Territories amid stringent security measures. The voting commenced at 7 am and will continue until 6 pm, with voters in line by closing time permitted to cast their ballots.

According to data provided by the Election Commission, West Bengal and Uttar Pradesh witnessed a high voter turnout of 16.64% and 12.33% respectively by 9 am. Bihar, Haryana, Jammu and Kashmir, Jharkhand, Delhi, and Odisha also reported varying percentages of voter turnout.

In Delhi, the voter turnout varied across constituencies, with Chandni Chowk at 7.83%, East Delhi at 8.82%, New Delhi at 7.04%, North East Delhi at 10.15%, North West Delhi at 8.99%, South Delhi at 8.88%, and West Delhi at 9.72% by 9 am.

The Lok Sabha elections are set to conclude on June 1 after the seventh phase of polls, following which the results will be declared on June 4.
