In Thane Rural, three individuals, including a former chairman of a panchayat samiti, allegedly brutally attacked a 27-year-old man on Friday, severing his hands with a sickle, all stemming from a longstanding feud in the Murbad taluka.
Thane Rural Police acted swiftly, arresting two of the suspects on Saturday, while the hunt continues for Shrikant Dhumal, the ex-chairman of the panchayat samiti. Sushil Bhoir, the victim, had previously worked as a bouncer alongside Dhumal and hailed from the same village, sharing familial ties.
The police revealed that a dispute led to Bhoir leaving his job, an action that apparently irked Dhumal, leading to deep-seated resentment. In fear, Bhoir relocated to another village. However, when he visited his hometown on Friday, Dhumal, along with his associates Ankush Khadikar and Nitin Dhumal, intercepted Bhoir’s autorickshaw on the Murbad-Barvi Dam road in Devape village. The assailants proceeded to assault Bhoir, with Nitin using a sickle to sever his hands. After the gruesome act, they abandoned the injured victim on the roadside and fled the scene. A passerby discovered the injured Bhoir, who was urgently transported to a local hospital before being referred to Sion Hospital. As per the latest reports, he is in stable condition. Inspector Prasad Pandhare of Murbad police station provided updates on the case, stating, “We have apprehended the primary attacker and Ankush, whose WagonR car was used in the crime.
