The lifeless body of former model Divya Pahuja, who was brutally murdered in a Gurgaon hotel on January 2, has been discovered in a canal in Haryana. Police indicated that the body had been dumped in the Bhakra canal in Punjab and had drifted into the neighbouring state. The Gurugram Police recovered the body from Tohna in Haryana and, after sharing photos with Pahuja’s family, it was positively identified. The body has been sent for an autopsy.
One of the accused, Balraj Gill, who was apprehended at Kolkata airport while attempting to board a flight, confessed during police interrogation that he disposed of Pahuja’s body in a canal in Patiala on January 3, a day after her alleged murder. Patiala is approximately 270 kilometres from Gurugram, where the crime occurred.
The shocking incident unfolded as CCTV footage captured Pahuja being dragged out of the Gurgaon hotel by her assailants after being shot in the head. The 27-year-old had been taken to a hotel room by five men, who allegedly murdered her due to her purported blackmail involving obscene pictures of the hotel owner. The motive behind the crime suggests a grim connection to the victim’s troubled past.
Notably, Divya Pahuja had been incarcerated for her alleged involvement in the fake encounter of her then-boyfriend, Gurugram gangster Sandeep Gadoli, in 2016. Released on bail in June of the previous year, her life took a tragic turn with this recent episode. The discovery of her body in a canal adds a sombre note to a crime that has sent shockwaves through the community, highlighting the vulnerabilities faced by individuals entangled in complex situations. As the investigation continues, authorities aim to unravel the full extent of the circumstances leading to this distressing end.
