A former spokesperson of the banned Jamat-e-Islami surrendered to the police in Srinagar district of Jammu and Kashmir, as per an official statement released on Sunday. The statement mentioned that the individual was implicated in various criminal activities, including involvement in a conspiracy and chanting anti-national slogans.

Identified as Ali Mohd Lone, also known as Advocate Zahid Ali and a resident of Nihama Pulwama, the accused was linked to Case FIR No. 19/2019 under several sections of the UAP Act and RPC at the Rainawari Police Station. He surrendered at the concerned Police Station on May 16, 2022, and has been apprehended in connection with the aforementioned case.

The official statement highlighted that the accused was allegedly part of a conspiracy and engaged in criminal acts such as arson, rioting, attempted jailbreak, inciting anti-national sentiments, and pelting stones at the Srinagar Central Jail in 2019. Additionally, it was noted that Ali Mohd Lone had previously served as the spokesperson for the banned organization Jamat-e-Islami.
