Former Haryana MLA Balkaur Singh resigned from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday and announced plans to join the Congress. He submitted his resignation to BJP state president Mohanlal Badoli, expressing dissatisfaction with the lack of respect and recognition he received from the party despite his loyal service.
“I have worked diligently for the party, upholding the BJP’s reputation during challenging times. However, I have not been given the respect or a government position I deserve,” Singh stated.
Singh also criticized BJP candidate Rajendra Desujodha, referring to serious allegations made by former Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar in 2019. Khattar had accused Desujodha and his family of drug trafficking, and Singh questioned the decision to grant him a party ticket despite these claims.
“The BJP has promised to combat drug abuse and seize the property of drug smugglers, yet no action has been taken against this candidate,” Singh added. “We are waiting to see what steps are taken and if any investigation into his property occurs.”
Singh is set to join the Congress party in Delhi, accompanied by his supporters under the leadership of former Chief Minister Bhupendra Singh Hooda and Kumari Selja. “Today, I will travel to Delhi to join the Congress and continue serving the people,” he concluded.
