McDonald’s has unveiled its latest creation, the Big Arch burger, which surpasses the iconic Big Mac in size. After months of anticipation, the fast-food giant revealed the details of its largest burger yet during a July 29 earnings call. While it hasn’t been launched worldwide, the Big Arch is currently being tested in select locations.
The Big Arch burger marks McDonald’s first global menu addition since the introduction of Chicken McNuggets in 1983. The company’s CEO, Chris Kempczinski, announced on Monday that the burger features two patties, melted cheese, “crispy toppings,” and a “tangy McDonald’s sauce,” according to the Daily Mail. Kempczinski described the Big Arch as “a quintessential McDonald’s burger with a twist on our iconic, familiar flavors,” addressing the recent dip in sales.
American fans will have to wait a bit longer, as the Big Arch has not yet been launched in the United States. However, McDonald’s has begun testing the giant burger in three countries, including Portugal and Canada. Since late June, lucky customers in Alberta and Ontario have had the chance to try it.
In Canada, a Big Arch meal, which includes a drink and fries, is priced at $12.59 at one of the test locations, roughly equivalent to $9 in the US. McDonald’s plans to gauge customer response before deciding on a global rollout.
One X (formerly Twitter) user recently shared a photo of the yellow-colored Big Arch box, with the caption, “Hey @McDonalds, please bring the Big Arch to the United States. I legit have eaten it 3 times in the week I’ve been in Portugal.”
As the fast-food chain tests this colossal burger in select markets, fans worldwide eagerly await its potential global launch.
