NEW DELHI: Khan Market has long been the epicentre of Delhi’s polished bustle, but the newly revamped Out of the Box (OTB) is infusing this iconic neighbourhood with a renewed, energetic rhythm.

Co-owners Uddit Bhasin and Udit Bagga have thoughtfully reimagined the space, replacing the familiar with a bold new brand identity and interiors that strike a balance between edgy and welcoming. Under the culinary leadership of acclaimed Chef Akshay Malhotra, the menu has broken free from earlier limitations to embrace a distinctly global outlook.

We spent a weekend evening exploring a menu that reads like a well-stamped passport, seamlessly bridging Lebanese vibrancy with Indian comfort. We began, fittingly, with the gin menu. For lovers of botanicals, the Solar Basil and Botanical Garden G&Ts feel like summer poured into a glass—clean, crisp, and refreshing. The Indigo Bloom is undeniably the most Instagram-worthy (hello, clear trendy bags!), but the real surprise was the Masala Kiwi G&T. Its nostalgic, zesty tang plays beautifully against the sweetness of kiwi, making it an instant hit for all the ’90s kids.

As the drinks settled in, the food followed. We started with the OTB Makhni Broccoli, a genuinely clever “healthy” choice with a smoky Harissa char upfront, followed by a rich cheese malai glaze that rounds everything off. Paired with tiny baby naans, it felt comforting and complete on its own. Next up was the Za’atar Chicken tender; generously spiced chicken, but it was the house hummus that stole the spotlight—silky, nutty, and exactly as it should be.

We also tried the Prawn Crystal Dumplings, glossy and delicately thin, filled with juicy prawns and a gentle hit of scallion. To finish the savoury spread, we ordered OTB’s classic Burrata Margherita—simple yet spot-on, with cherry tomatoes, fresh basil, and generous, creamy burrata melting luxuriously over the hot crust.

OTB has clearly matured, shedding its old skin for something far more refined and globally attuned. This reinvention goes beyond aesthetics; it marks a shift in energy. From polished plating to a thoughtfully curated soundtrack, the restaurant feels ready to reclaim its place as a Khan Market mainstay.
