Authorities stated on Monday that work is still being done to drain floodwater from the Jawaharlal Nehru (JLN) Hospital in Ajmer, Rajasthan. After receiving constant rain for 24 hours on Sunday due to cyclonic storm Biparjoy, the hospital suffered serious flooding. Rainwater impacted the orthopaedic ward, ophthalmology department, outdoor ward, X-ray room, and medicine counter, posing serious difficulties for hospital employees and visitors.

Since early in the morning, the hospital’s cleaning staff has been hard working to fix the waterlogging and damage. On Monday, the hospital was supposed to open for patients from outside at 9 a.m., but the widespread water made this impossible. Cleaning up the premises has been difficult for the personnel due to the significant volume of rains.According to the cleaning staff supervisor, Harinarayan Lakhan, “The hospital floor is quite low, and because of this, it can flood easily. In such a case, patients have to be shifted to another ward.”Since JLN Hospital is one of the biggest hospitals in the division, a lot of patients come for treatment on a daily basis.
