The UAE is currently dealing with severe weather conditions, marked by heavy rains and thunderstorms, leading authorities to issue an orange alert. This alert indicates a high level of caution due to the intensity of the weather. As a result, normal life in the region has been disrupted, prompting various precautionary measures to ensure public safety.

On Thursday, the situation escalated as the unstable weather peaked, compelling residents to remain indoors. Both the public and private sectors implemented remote work arrangements to minimize exposure to the harsh weather conditions. This measure aims to protect workers and reduce the risk of accidents or injuries that may occur during travel or outdoor activities.

Additionally, educational institutions swiftly transitioned to distance learning platforms to safeguard the well-being of students. By shifting to online classes, schools can continue education while ensuring that students remain safe at home. Furthermore, public recreational areas such as parks and beaches have been temporarily closed to prevent potential accidents or incidents caused by the inclement weather. These closures prioritize public safety and reduce the risk of individuals being caught in hazardous conditions outdoors.

The National Center of Meteorology (NCM) has cautioned residents to be careful due to the severe weather. They advised people to avoid unnecessary driving and to drive cautiously if they must go out, ensuring the safety of everyone on the road. Additionally, motorists were reminded to use low-beam headlights for better visibility in heavy rain.

Emirates had to cancel several flights because of the bad weather across the UAE. Also, Dubai International Airport (DXB) reduced its flight operations due to the unfavorable weather conditions.

The weather office noticed rain clouds forming in Al Dhafra and Al Sila areas, close to Abu Dhabi, around midnight. By 1:30 AM, these clouds spread to the western islands of Abu Dhabi, bringing heavy rain and small hail.

Dubai Police and the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) are giving regular updates and safety advice. Intercity bus services were stopped, and some roads closed to prevent accidents due to water and slippery conditions. In Dubai, heavy rain started around midnight, getting stronger, with lightning seen by 2:35 AM.

Officials are stressing the importance of following safety rules. They’re telling people to avoid unnecessary travel and be very careful if they have to go out.

Emergency services are ready, and the government says they’re doing everything needed to handle the storms and keep people safe.
