A tragic incident unfolded in Mumbai as a 24-year-old flight attendant, Rupal Ogrey, was discovered dead with her throat slit in an apartment in the city. The young woman, originally from Chhattisgarh, had arrived in Mumbai in April for training with Air India.
The grim discovery was made late on a Sunday night in a flat within N G Complex on Krishanlal Marwah Marg, situated in the suburban Andheri area of Marol. The shocking crime has led to the arrest of a 40-year-old man, identified as Vikram Athwal, who had been employed as a housekeeping staffer in the residential society where the victim resided.
Athwal was charged with murder under Indian Penal Code Section 302, as confirmed by an official from Powai police station. Following the alleged murder, the accused returned to his residence in Tunga village, located in Powai, where he was apprehended by the police. Authorities are now conducting an investigation to determine if the suspect committed any sexual assault against the victim.
The police have taken the necessary steps in this tragic case, sending the victim’s body for post-mortem and awaiting the medical report for further insights.
During their inquiry, the police discovered that the deceased woman had been living in the apartment with her sister and her sister’s boyfriend. However, the duo had left for their native place eight days prior to the incident. When the victim failed to answer calls from her concerned family members, they contacted local friends in Mumbai, asking them to check on her well-being.
These friends went to her flat, only to find it locked from the inside, with no response to the doorbell. Subsequently, they sought assistance from the Powai police, who aided in opening the flat using a duplicate key. They found the young woman inside, her life cruelly cut short, and she was promptly rushed to Rajawadi Hospital. She was declared dead upon arrival.
