Last night, Udaipur witnessed the havoc of high speed. An uncontrollable jeep overturned and flipped on the road. In the accident, 5 young men lost their lives. All the deceased were friends. The five friends were returning home from a liquor party in the market. During this time, their vehicle lost control on the highway and overturned. The incident occurred near Gogunda-Pindwada National Highway-27, close to Ukhaliya Tunnel in the Bekeria area of Udaipur on Sunday night at 8 pm.
Station in-charge Prabhu Singh Chundawat explained that in the accident, Manoj (22) from Ghata Nadi, Puna (20), Nathu (23) from Akyavad, Bhima (25) from Devala, and another friend lost their lives. All of them were under the influence of alcohol and were returning to their village Devala from Gogunda. The jeep was at a high speed. As soon as the jeep came out of the Ukhaliya Tunnel, the driver lost control of the vehicle, and the jeep, as it came out of the tunnel, flipped after colliding with the divider on the highway, around three to four times, and overturned on the road.
After the accident, all the youths got stuck badly in the jeep. The heads and limbs of the youths were severely crushed.
After nearly an hour of intense effort, the police managed to get everyone out. Three youths had died on the spot. Meanwhile, two injured succumbed on the way to the hospital. As soon as the information of the accident was received, late at night, Collector Arvind Poswal and SP Bhuvan Bhushan Yadav reached the incident site.
The station in charge mentioned that all the deceased youths were residents of the Devala area. He stated that Nathu was the only one in his family and had no siblings.
