A fishing boat sank off the coast of South Korea’s Jeju Island early on Friday, with 14 sailors rescued and 13 others still missing, according to reports from Yonhap news agency, citing the coast guard. The incident occurred about 24 kilometers northwest of Jeju Island, prompting an immediate search and rescue operation.
Two of the rescued sailors were reported to be unconscious, while the remaining 12 are believed to be in stable condition. President Yoon Suk Yeol has ordered the mobilization of all available resources and personnel to assist in the ongoing rescue efforts.
The South Korean Coast Guard is leading the search, as authorities work to locate the missing sailors amidst challenging conditions at sea.
