The recent triumph in Kerala’s Thrissur constituency marks a significant milestone for the NDA, showcasing a remarkable increase in their vote share by nearly 17%, compared to the 2019 elections.

Suresh Gopi, the BJP candidate who secured a decisive majority in six out of seven Assembly constituencies previously held by the LDF, played a pivotal role in this victory. Alongside Thrissur, Thiruvananthapuram and Attingal emerged as crucial wins for NDA, with notable gains in vote share led by union ministers Rajeev Chandrashekhar and V Muraleedharan.

Suresh Gopi, a renowned actor with assets totaling Rs 18.6 crore, declared his profession as a Cinema Artist in his election affidavit. His victory underscores BJP’s growing influence in Kerala’s political landscape.

Additionally, BJP’s state president K Surendran’s impressive performance, especially against Rahul Gandhi, and Shobha Surendran’s success in Alappuzha, traditionally an LDF stronghold, reflect NDA’s strengthening position in the state.

The surprising surge in vote share in Kerala’s north Malabar region, notably in Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan’s constituency Dharmadom, where BJP doubled their vote share, hints at shifting political dynamics. Despite securing only one seat, NDA’s performance in Kerala sets the stage for a competitive showing in the upcoming 2026 Assembly Elections.
