Following the Poonch attack, a local eyewitness has recently shared the details of what transpired during the heinous attack on Wednesday.
Talking about the ambush, the local revealed that a gunfight between security forces and the terrorists took place for approximately 20 minutes.
He further described that as the gunfight broke out, his children started crying, and later he got to know, that a few of the soldiers had gotten injured and some of them succumbed to their injuries.
However, when questioned about the number of terrorists, he stated he could not provide a specific figure due to the presence of dense foliage.
“We were scared as a fierce gunfight erupted and continued for about 20 minutes. I later came to know that a few of our soldiers were injured and one of them later succumbed to his injuries. My children started crying as the gunfire rang out. I can’t specifically say how many terrorists were there as I couldn’t spot them in dense foliage.” said the eyewitness to ANI.
Later, he also claimed that this was the first such encounter broken out in this area. The local also added that he fears for the safety of his children every day.
He also stated that since the attack, there is a lack of essential supplies as the vehicles carrying them have stopped come in, in this remote area. The forces too are carrying out the searches for the perpetrator everywhere.
Later, condemning the terrorists he said, “I pray God gives better sense to such people who believe in senseless violence. The officer who lost his life in the terror attack was also someone’s husband, brother and son. The terrorists come prepared to die but also claim the lives of innocents.”
Also praising the Indian air force, he said that whenever they travel and move on this route, these valiant warriors stop to talk to the children and gives them toffees.
“I live here and the forces pass through this day every day. The Air Force personnel often stop to catch up with my children and give them toffees. We are deeply saddened that four of our soldiers were injured and one of them perished. May the wrath of God befall those who orchestrated this attack.”
Recently, terrorists ambushed the IAF’s convoy and set fire to the vehicle in surankote area of Poonch.
Thus, leaving 5 Air force personnel injured and among them, Corporal Vicky Pahade unfortunately succumbed to his injuries in hospital.
Pahade’s last rites were later performed in his hometown of Chhindwara in Madhya Pradesh with full military honours on Monday.
