FIR Filed Over Al-Qaeda Bomb Threat To Bihar CM's Office

PATNA: Bihar Police have filed a case following a bomb threat email sent to the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) in Patna. The email, which claimed to be from an individual affiliated with Al-Qaeda, threatened to detonate a bomb at the CMO premises. This threat was received on July 16, 2024.

An FIR was registered on August 2, 2024, based on the complaint from Sachivalaya Police Station SHO Sanjeev Kumar. Patna Senior Superintendent of Police Rajeev Mishra confirmed the registration of the FIR and noted that it followed an inquiry into the threat.

The FIR, which can be accessed on the Bihar State Crime Records Bureau (SCRB) website, has been filed against unknown individuals. The case is being investigated under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita and the Information Technology (IT) Act. The police are treating the threat seriously and have heightened security measures around the CMO as a precaution.

Authorities are working to trace the origin of the email and determine the credibility of the threat. They are also collaborating with cybercrime experts to identify the sender and assess any potential risks to public safety.
