Finale festivities: PGGCG-42 Chandigarh wraps up 40th Athletic Meet

PGGCG-42, College Chandigarh, successfully concluded its 40th Annual Athletic Meet with an eventful closing ceremony. College Principal Prof. (Dr.) Nisha Aggarwal inaugurated the meet, while Arjun Awardee (Rowing) Sardar Jagjit Singh Jalla, SP, Mohali, graced the occasion as the chief guest. Ms. Kamla Cheema Dalal, BHIM Awardee (Hockey), was honored as the guest of honor.

Principal Prof. Dr. Nisha Aggarwal extended a warm welcome to the Chief Guest, emphasizing the college’s commitment to empowering girl students. She acknowledged the support of the Director of Higher Education and commended the Department of Physical Education for their efforts. Prof. Dr. Nisha Aggarwal presented the college’s annual report, highlighting student achievements and emphasizing the values of sportsmanship, stamina, speed, strength, skill, and lively enthusiasm. The chief guest addressed the girl students, inspiring them towards fitness and sports, illustrating the societal benefits. Sharing personal experiences, she motivated the students to strive for success not only as athletes but also as capable sports coaches contributing to the country’s progress.

The event featured a spectacular display of march past, aerobics, yoga, and giddha skills by the girl students, captivating the audience, including guests, faculty members, and fellow students. A total of 28 events took place, encompassing various competitions.
The Chief Guest distributed prizes to the winning participants during the closing ceremony, commending the college management and girl students for their outstanding performance and diligent efforts.

The march past team from the Science Group received recognition as the best unit of the program, and Gunjan-B.P.Ed.-I was declared the best athlete of the college for the current session. The participation of students from various faculties in the march past added to the overall spirit of the event.
