In a bid to enhance voter participation in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections 2024, Ferozepur introduces the “Sweep Giddha” initiative. Led by the District Electoral Officer (DEO) cum Deputy Commissioner (DC) Rajesh Dhiman, this cultural endeavor aims to educate and engage voters through traditional Giddha performances. The unveiling ceremony, officiated by SVEEP Nodal Officer Arun Sharma, marks a significant step towards fostering a more informed and active electorate in Ferozepur.
Previously, the release of the motivational track ‘Nazar Di Vohti’ garnered significant praise from the public and was commended by the Election Commission of Punjab, being shared widely across various social media platforms.
ADC Arun Sharma highlighted the collaborative efforts behind the SVEEP Giddha, showcasing performances by talented artists Ritu, Rabia, Rebika, Shruti, Valika, Ninder Kaur, Kirandeep Kaur, students of Dev Samaj College for Women (DSCW). The stirring lyrics were penned by renowned lyricist Gill Gulamiwala, while the musical composition was crafted by Lankesh Kamal and the video production was helmed by Rajinder. Sharma emphasized the crucial importance of voter turnout in the upcoming elections scheduled for June 1, 2024, referring to it as the “festival of democracy,” urging every eligible voter to exercise their franchise without hesitation or influence.

 

The district administration of Ferozepur aims to surpass an 80 percent voter turnout target, striving to create an environment where citizens from all strata of society feel empowered to cast their votes freely and without any apprehension.
Present at the occasion were notable figures including Dr. Satinder Singh, Secretary of Red Cross Ashok Behal, Ravi Inder Singh, Pargat Gill, Harinder Bhullar, Sarabjit Singh Bhavra, Lakhwinder Singh, Sarabjit Singh, Charanjit Singh Chahal, Dr. Amarjyoti Mangat, Mahal Singh, Madam Shalu, and others.
The SVEEP initiative stands as a testament to the collaborative efforts aimed at fostering a more informed and participative electorate, ensuring the vibrancy of democratic principles in the electoral process.
