With rising tensions in Gaza and Lebanon, Israel is pushing for a strong retaliation against Iran following its ballistic missile attack. Experts have labeled this period as the “most dangerous week of the war,” with concerns that Tel Aviv could potentially target Tehran’s nuclear facilities.
The Israeli government remains resolute in responding to the threats posed by Iran and its allied groups. Tehran launched nearly 200 missiles, causing widespread damage across Israel. Despite the escalating situation, the United States has urged Israel to adopt a more measured approach, emphasizing restraint as tensions mount.
Amid fears of an Israeli retaliation, Iran’s Aviation Authority has suspended all flights from Sunday evening to Monday morning, according to reports from Al-Arabiya.
Former Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett rejected US President Joe Biden’s call for a “proportionate” response. Bennett argued that Israel must cripple Iran’s nuclear program and key economic assets. “All of these would be only a fraction of what Iran did to Israel,” Bennett stated in a post on X.
He warned that Iran has acquired enough enriched uranium to build 10 nuclear bombs and is rapidly advancing toward producing a detonator device. “We might wake up to a test bomb exploding in Iran’s desert, turning the Middle East into a nuclear nightmare,” Bennett cautioned.
Reflecting on the situation, Bennett noted that Iran had directly fired ballistic missiles at key Israeli cities like Tel Aviv. He also recalled Iran’s earlier missile barrage in April, which saw around 350 projectiles aimed at Israel. He credited Israel’s advanced technology for preventing massive casualties, stating, “Without it, these missiles could have killed thousands.”
Bennett emphasized that Israel, unlike Iran, does not indiscriminately attack civilians. “We don’t shoot 10,000 rockets on Iranian cities. Israel can do much less than what Iran’s regime did to us,” he asserted.
Former Israeli government spokesman Eylon Levy echoed Bennett’s concerns, pointing out that Israel is under attack from seven fronts, with Iran working to expand its offensive. Levy warned that Algeria, Sudan, and even Turkey are aligning against Israel, highlighting the gravity of the situation: “We are fighting for our lives.”
American-Israeli author Joel C. Rosenberg praised Israel’s recent efforts, including the assassination of 18 high-ranking commanders, but insisted more needs to be done. Writing for an Israeli news outlet, Rosenberg described Israel’s response in Lebanon as “brilliant, creative, and miraculous,” yet insufficient. He urged Israel to eliminate Hezbollah’s missile capabilities and to use Iran’s recent attack as an opportunity to dismantle Tehran’s regime.
As reports suggest that Iran’s military is on high alert, Rosenberg warned that Israel is “heading into the most dangerous week of the war.” He concluded, “A massive war with Iran is looming, and Israel cannot allow Iran to acquire a nuclear bomb.”
