Undoubtedly there are really fine stories and characters that get churned every single day but only a few stick with us and give us such a wholesome experience that every time we see them it feels like the first time. And when we think about such stories the first name that comes in our mind is none other than Farhan Akhtar.
With people confined to their homes for the last few months, consumption of entertainment content has gone up and people are re-watching their old favourite films. Several of Farhan’s films have repeat value and hence are being relished by viewers again digitally. Among the wide range of characters he has essayed on the silver screen, the best ones are the poet Imraan Qureshi in Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara and ‘the flying Sikh’ Milkha Singh from Bhaag Milkha Bhaag. The character of Imraan Qureshi still resonates with us and we can always engage with it. In Bhaag Milkha Bhaag the actor shared the story of Milkha Singh so beautifully that viewers were glued to their screens feeling every emotion with him. The wanderer in Dil Dhakakne Do was a nuanced portrayal. Rock On which is about the music of an unrecognised band but is so much more than that.
Some of his directorial hits include Dil Chahta Hai — yet another classic which resonates with us even today — and Lakshya, a journey of an aimless young man who becomes an army officer as well as highlights the stories and sacrifices of the army.
Be it donning the director’s hat, a wanderer or a poet, Farhan’s content has always been extremely engaging and authentic. His stories have stayed with us, refreshing our minds and giving us a first time viewing experience no matter how many times we have seen those films.
On the work front, Farhan Akhtar will be seen next in another sports drama titled Toofaan. The film is produced by Excel Entertainment and directed by Rakesh Omprakash Mehra.
