A family of four, including two children, lost their lives on Wednesday after being struck and dragged by a high-speed SUV for 100 metres in Lucknow, police said.
The incident occurred near the Gulchain temple in Aliganj, Lucknow, where a couple, along with their two children were travelling on a scooty. The SUV reportedly hit the family’s two-wheeler, leading to all four getting stuck under the car. According to witnesses, the driver did not stop even after noticing the sparks coming from the trapped vehicle.
All four were rushed to the trauma centre at King George’s Medical University (KGMU)- all of them were declared dead on arrival.
The deceased has been identified as Ram Singh (35). His wife was 32 years old, while the two children were aged 10 and 7 years respectively, local police said in a statement. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath offered his condolences over the loss of lives in the accident.
