The Bharatiya Janata Party-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) is likely to win as many as 74 seats out of 80 in Uttar Pradesh, the state that contributes the maximum number of seats to the Lok Sabha, as predicted by Matrize-Republic exit poll on Saturday.
The India News-NewX-D-Dynamics predicts that the BJP will increase its 2019 total and win 65 of the 80 Lok Sabha seats. Apna Dal (Sonelal) and Rashtriya Lok Dal, its state-wide NDA allies, are expected to win two seats apiece, increasing the NDA’s total to 69 seats.
Predictions from India Today’s Axis My India poll indicate that the BJP will win 64 out of 67 seats in Uttar Pradesh. About 8–12 seats are predicted to go to the INDIA bloc. As members of the INDIA bloc, the Congress and the Samajwadi Party had a seat-sharing arrangement in the state. With its one-man campaign, the Bahujan Samaj Party is expected to gain 0 seats to 1.
The INDIA alliance is predicted to win 12–6 seats in Uttar Pradesh, while the NDA is predicted to win 68–74 seats. These forecasts are based on the Jan ki Baat poll.
There was a straight struggle in Uttar Pradesh between the opposition INDIA alliance and the incumbent NDA. Although the BJP ran candidates for 75 of the state’s 80 seats, it left its partners, the Rashtriya Lok Dal and the Apna Dal (Sonelal), to contest the remaining five.
In Uttar Pradesh, the Samajwadi Party, a member of the INDIA bloc, ran for 62 seats, giving the Congress 17 and the Trinamool Congress 1 respectively.
Some of the most prominent constituencies are found in Uttar Pradesh, a state with considerable political weight in national politics. Union Minister Smriti Irani, who defeated Rahul Gandhi in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, was running from Amethi, along with Prime Minister Narendra Modi from Varanasi and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh from Lucknow.
This year, Rahul Gandhi ran from Rae Bareli in the INDIA bloc, in addition to Akhilesh Yadav from Kannauj and Wayanad in Kerala.
The NDA secured 64 seats in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, while the BJP secured 62 seats and its ally Apna Dal secured two. The BJP won 71 seats, the NDA won 73, and the Apna Dal won two in 2014.
