The Maharashtra excise department carried out a successful operation, intercepting a truck transporting Indian-Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) valued at Rs 59.48 lakh to Mumbai. This operation resulted in the arrest of three individuals from Madhya Pradesh, according to an official statement.
Acting on a reliable tip-off, a vigilant flying squad from the excise department’s Konkan division strategically positioned themselves near the Turbhe railway station in Navi Mumbai, where they executed the operation. Inspector Dighambar Shewale provided details of the operation. The team seized an extensive inventory comprising 918 boxes containing various brands of IMFL, which are explicitly prohibited in Maharashtra. The confiscated liquor had an estimated value of Rs 59.48 lakh.
The individuals taken into custody were identified as Tersingh Dhansingh Kanoje (32), who was operating the truck, along with Nasir Anwar Sheikh (45) and Guddu Devsingh Rawat (45), all of whom hail from Madhya Pradesh. It was revealed that the seized liquor had been manufactured in Goa.
