Sound therapy is one of the most effective alternative therapies that exist in the world but are not widely popular. This therapy has been practiced for hundreds of years but only a few people know what this therapy is and how it can help in promoting overall wellness. Dr Anju Sharma, Sound healing Master, Psychic Reformer and Holistic-wellness Coach explains that the principle of sound therapy is to provide holistic healing through different sounds. The vibrations that are released when a sound is produced allow physical, mental, emotional and psychological healing. Not only does this therapy help ease psychological stress but it is also proven to aid physical woes.
What do most of us do when we are sad or feel demotivated?
Listen to music. The choice of music could be different but it is music that helps us calm down and regain sanity. So technically, sound therapy is an old thing that we have been practising for ages. Additionally, different sounds affect our mind and body differently. There are certain sounds that have a common range of vibrations that positively influence most people. However, sound healing therapy can be personalised with respect to a person’s health concerns and medical condition.
The purpose of sound healing therapy is to bring harmony, balance and resonance in the mind and body. This therapy can help in aligning the mind and body to bring them to equilibrium and promote overall wellness. You can expect better physical, mental, psychological and emotional health after taking sound healing sessions.

How Does Sound Therapy Work?
As mentioned earlier, the principle of sound therapy is to use vibrations to provide healing. Dr. Anju explains that everything has a frequency and it can be treated with the same frequency. Our human body too has a frequency which when treated with the same frequency band, can have a positive influence on the whole system. Whether your problem is persistent or short-term, you can always experience a sense of betterment through sounds.
In simpler terms, you have different reactions to different songs because their bandwidth and frequencies are different. You showcase different emotions to different sounds because of the varied frequency band. A sound healer has a deeper knowledge of different frequency sounds and uses them during the therapy to provide relief.

Different types of sound and instruments for sound healing
Some sounds have very high frequencies that are not good for human health. They release unsafe vibrations that hamper our mind, for example a honking vehicle sound takes away your mental peace. On the other hand, some sounds have lower frequencies that are extremely calming and relaxing, such as the sound of a musical instrument.
Therapists use a mix of natural sounds, instrumental sounds and human voice to begin the healing process, depending upon the concern and degree of treatment required. Natural sounds include sound of chirping birds, water stream; sound healing instruments include sound bath, Tibetan bowls, chimes, gongs and tuning forks.

Benefits of Sound Healing.
Vibrations of sounds instruct our brain to stop degeneration of cells. Soothing sounds help in recuperation which allows healing. Dis-ease a disease is the ultimate benefit of sound healing therapy.
It helps ease anxiety, reduce stress, prevent a state of depression, lessen muscle stress, lower physical pain, improve cognitive abilities, enhance concentration and boost memory power.
