Haryana Power and New and Renewable Energy Minister, Ranjit Singh participated in the ‘Bijli Panchayat’ organised by the Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam at the Public Works Department rest house in Hisar here on Thursday addressing the concerns of urban and rural consumers. He provided officers with necessary directives for prompt grievances resolution.
Representatives from 20 Gram Panchayats of four districts and various villages presented their concerns before the Energy Minister during the Bijli Panchayat. Addressing the issue of delayed billing, he stated that a meeting would be held soon to quickly make decisions so that citizens could receive their electricity bills every month. The Energy Minister directed the officers to expedite pending electricity connections in Dhanis and prioritise consumer-related tasks. He also directed officers to address cases of overbilling, expedite pending tubewell connections, prevent electricity theft, and resolve overload issues.He directed senior officers of the electricity department to regularly inspect incidents of electricity theft in urban and rural areas. He emphasised the need for additional precautions on high-voltage lines to avoid any untoward incidents and urged the prompt completion of pending tasks related to smart metres.
