Zelenskyy To Meet UK’s Starmer To Hold Talks Before European Summit On Ukraine’s Future

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy will meet British Prime Minister Keir Starmer in London on Saturday, a statement from Starmer’s office said. The meeting precedes a wider European summit on Sunday, where leaders will consider a possible peace plan for Ukraine.

“The Prime Minister and President Zelenskyy will be meeting in Downing Street this afternoon,” a spokesperson confirmed.

This sit-down comes after a tense confrontation between Zelenskyy and his predecessor, Donald Trump, at the White House, where Trump vowed to pull American support from Ukraine in the ongoing war against Russia. Zelenskyy had wished to employ the Oval Office session to bolster Ukraine’s stance and convince the United States to continue its support against Russian President Vladimir Putin, who ordered the invasion three years prior.

Starmer met separately with Trump and Zelenskyy on Friday, reiterating his “unshakeable support” for Ukraine. His position is in line with other European leaders who have committed ongoing support for Kyiv in its fight against Russian aggression.
