Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky expressed his gratitude to Italy and Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni on Tuesday for their leadership during Italy’s term as G7 president, which saw steadfast support for Ukraine in its fight against the Russian invasion.
“I am grateful to Italy and to the President of the Council of Ministers, Giorgia Meloni, for the extraordinary presidency of the G7 this year. Italian leadership is an example of unity, strength and determination,” he said on X.
“A special thank you for the historic decision of the G7 to allocate 50 billion dollars in funding from Russia’s frozen assets,” Zelensky added.
“Our cooperation helps save thousands of lives, preserve families and ensure a future for Ukrainian children.
“Together, we are moving closer to a just peace and global security.”
