While he was in France, Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with United States Vice President JD Vance and his family and offered well-thought-out gifts to Vance’s two sons and daughter. His children “really enjoyed” the gifts, later mentioned by the Vice President.
At the second day of his visit, PM Modi hosted Vance, who was in France as well during that time. In a symbol of friendship, he presented a wooden railway toys set to Vivek Vance and a jigsaw puzzle with Indian folk art design to Ewan Blaine Vance.
The wooden railway toy, as per PTI, is a “timeless classic” that combines nostalgia with sustainability. The officials clarified, “Made of natural wood and painted with vegetable dyes, which are environmentally friendly, it is both child-safe and eco-friendly.”
The jigsaw puzzle that PM Modi presented to Ewan showcases India’s rich cultural heritage. It consists of different folk painting styles like West Bengal’s Kalighat pat painting, Santhal painting by the Santhal tribe, and Bihar’s Madhubani art. The officials mentioned that every style portrays India’s diverse cultural heritage, so the puzzle is an educational as well as artistic experience.
For Mirabel Rose Vance, the daughter of JD Vance, PM Modi also selected an environmental-friendly wooden alphabet set. Made to be interactive, durable, and safe, the set is used in helping children build motor skills and thinking skills.
JD Vance Speaks of Appreciation
Following the meeting, JD Vance expressed appreciation for PM Modi’s hospitality, describing him as “gracious and kind.” He also shared his gratitude for the gifts and the meaningful conversation they had after the Paris AI Action Summit.
“Prime Minister Modi was gracious and kind, and our kids really enjoyed the gifts. I’m grateful to him for the wonderful conversation,” Vance wrote on X.
His post was in response to PM Modi’s earlier message on X, in which the Indian leader fondly recalled joining the birthday celebrations of JD Vance’s son, Vivek.
“A very nice meeting with US @VP @JDVance and family. We exchanged very good views on many subjects. Happy to join them to celebrate the joyful birthday of their son, Vivek!” PM Modi tweeted, accompanying photos that include JD Vance, his wife Usha Vance, and the couple’s children.
Vance and his wife, Usha, have three children—Ewan, Vivek, and Mirabel.
Official Statement on the Meeting
Subsequently, the US Vice President’s office issued a statement briefing the people about the interaction of the two leaders in Paris.
“Today, Vice President JD Vance sat down with Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi. The two leaders, joined by the 2nd Lady of the United States, Usha Vance, shared coffee and talked about matters of common interest, including how the United States can help India diversify its energy sources through investment in clean, secure U.S. nuclear technology,” the statement stated.
It also added, “Prime Minister Modi kindly exchanged gifts with the Vance children and wished the Vice President’s son Vivek a happy birthday.”
