US President Joe Biden and his predecessor Donald Trump are gearing up for intense clashes in June and September, as both leaders eye their second White House bid and have accepted invitations for debates, according to CNN.
CNN will host the first debate on June 27, followed by ABC News hosting the second on September 10.
President Biden confirmed his acceptance of both CNN and ABC’s invitations for the debates and passed the baton to Trump. “I’ve received and accepted an invitation from @CNN for a debate on June 27th. Over to you, Donald. As you said: anywhere, any time, any place,” Biden announced on X. He further added, “I’ve also received and accepted an invitation to a debate hosted by ABC on Tuesday, September 10th. Trump says he’ll arrange his own transportation. I’ll bring my plane, too. I plan on keeping it for another four years.”
Donald Trump, aiming for a return to the White House after his contentious exit in 2020, also agreed to the debate invitations. He took to the Truth Social platform to announce, “It is my great honor to accept the CNN Debate against Crooked Joe Biden, the WORST PRESIDENT in the History of the United States and a true Threat to Democracy, on June 27th. Likewise, I accept the ABC News Debate against Crooked Joe on September 10th. Thank you, DJT!”
Responding to Biden’s challenge issued in a video on Wednesday, Trump criticized Biden’s debating skills and presidency. “Crooked Joe Biden is the WORST debater I have ever faced – He can’t put two sentences together! Crooked is also the WORST President in the history of the United States, by far,” Trump stated on Truth Social. He criticized Biden’s policies on open borders, electric vehicle mandates, inflation, taxes, and foreign policy.
Trump expressed interest in having more than two debates and suggested hosting them in large venues for excitement. “Just tell me when I’ll be there. Let’s get ready to Rumble!!!” he added.
Both candidates are gearing up for the presidential elections scheduled for November this year. Biden faces challenges regarding domestic issues and foreign policy, particularly the conflicts in Ukraine and Gaza, while Trump contends with multiple ongoing criminal cases.
