Nepal and Qatar Seal Eight Agreements, Excluding Labour Pact

Nepal’s Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, also known as Prachanda, engaged in bilateral discussions with Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad, the Amir of the State of Qatar, on Wednesday. During the Amir’s visit to Nepal, a total of eight agreements were inked between the two nations, with the exception of a labour pact.

Following bilateral talks between delegates from both countries in Kathmandu, Prime Minister Dahal and the visiting Amir of Qatar signed the agreements. An hour prior to the signing ceremony, the Amir held a private meeting with PM Dahal. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed that during the delegation meeting, six agreements were signed between ministries, and two agreements were made between private sectors.

Before the Amir of Qatar’s official departure from Nepal on Wednesday, the Ministry of Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation of Nepal signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for Cooperation in the Fields of Culture and Arts with the Ministry of Culture of the State of Qatar.

Furthermore, Qatar and Nepal entered into an agreement regarding Cooperation and Exchange of News between the National News Agency of Nepal (RSS) and the Qatar News Agency (QNA).

Additionally, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for Cooperation in the Field of Education, Higher Education, and Scientific Research between the Government of Nepal and the Government of the State of Qatar.

Another Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Government of Nepal and the Government of the State of Qatar, this time focusing on Cooperation in the field of youth and sports.

Similarly, a Memorandum of Understanding for Cooperation was signed between the Office of the Attorney General of Nepal and the Public Prosecution of the State of Qatar.

The oil-rich Middle Eastern nation, Qatar, and the Himalayan nation, Nepal, also entered into a Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in the Field of Diplomatic Training and Education. This agreement was between the Institute of Foreign Affairs (IFA) of the Government of Nepal and the Diplomatic Institute of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar.

In addition to government-level interactions and agreements, private entities from both nations signed an agreement to establish a Joint Business Council (JBC) between the Qatar Chamber and the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FNCCI). Furthermore, the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Qatar Chamber and the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) was also renewed between the two countries.

Following a lunch hosted by Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, the Amir of Qatar concluded his two-day state visit to Nepal and departed for home. At the airport, President Ram Chandra Poudel, Vice President Ram Shaya Prasad Yadav, Speaker Dev Raj Ghimire, Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, and Foreign Minister Narayankaji Shrestha bid farewell to Amir Al Thani.

During his visit, Amir Al Thani held meetings with President Paudel and Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, emphasizing the commitment to enhancing bilateral relations between the two countries.
