Colonel Vaibhav Anil Kale (Retd), a former Indian Army officer working as a Security Coordination Officer for the United Nations Department of Safety and Security (DSS) in Gaza, tragically lost his life on May 13, 2024, during a mission in Gaza. The Indian Ministry of External Affairs has confirmed that Indian missions at the UN in New York and Israel are actively assisting in the repatriation of Colonel Kale’s mortal remains back to India.

His aunt, Mugdha Ashok Kale, expressed the family’s struggle to accept his sudden demise, highlighting his enduring presence in their hearts despite the shocking news. She mentioned that although reality dictates his passing, their minds are yet to fully reconcile with this loss.

Colonel Kale’s dedication to service, both in the Indian Army and later with the United Nations, has been praised by his family and colleagues. His cousin, Chinmay Ashok Kale, reminisced about his active nature since childhood and his deep commitment to fulfilling his grandfather’s dream of serving the nation.
