In order to discuss trade, mobility, and international security issues, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar met with leaders from Austria, Romania, Denmark, Mongolia, Argentina, and Norway at the Munich Security Conference (MSC) 2025.
Jaishankar started the day by being addressed by Jens Stoltenberg, Minister of Finance and incoming chair of MSC, Norway. He characterized their discussion on global security architecture as “useful.”

In a series of prominent encounters, he showed gratitude to Alexander Schallenberg, the Federal Chancellor and Foreign Minister of Austria. He also talked about further expansion of bilateral coordination in trade, connectivity, and mobility with the Foreign Affairs Minister of Romania, Emil Hurezeanu. He also dealt with European security issues with the Danish Foreign Minister Lars Lokke Rasmussen.
Jaishankar engaged in a “warm conversation” with Mongolia’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, Battsetseg Batmunkh, and welcomed the ongoing evolution of India-Mongolia ties. “Spoke about deepening our engagement in culture, business, development partnership, and technology,” he shared on X.

In an interview with Gerardo Werthein, Argentina’s Foreign Affairs and Trade Minister, Jaishankar discussed trade and investment growth and shared views on geopolitical issues. “further expansion in our trade and investment. Shared perspectives on global affairs,” he said in another post.
Key Panel Discussions on Democracy and Security
He participated in a panel discussion on ‘Live to Vote Another Day: Fortifying Democratic Resilience’ with Jonas Gahr Store, Prime Minister of Norway, Elissa Slotkin, US Senator, and Rafal Trzaskowski, Mayor of Warsaw. Evaluating Rising India’s Security Challenges’ session. He described India’s practice of external engagement, regional interaction, and major bilateral relationships.
Talks on Ukraine Conflict
Jaishankar also met Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha on the sidelines of MSC 2025, where they discussed ongoing efforts for conflict resolution. “Good to meet FM Andrii Sybiha of Ukraine on the sidelines of #MSC2025 today. Additionally, he met Bavarian Prime Minister Markus Soder to discuss economic and technological collaboration between India and Bavaria. “Exchanged views about the international situation. Look forward to welcoming him to India,” he added.
Jaishankar also held talks with German Defence Minister Boris Pistorius, who talked about cooperation between Germany and India as well as the situation in Ukraine. His engagements at MSC 2025 underscored India’s proactive role in global affairs, security, and trade.
